Turning phone stores into official polling stations where polling places had disappeared.

The Fresh Problem
Ahead of the 2016 election, nearly 900 polling places had been eliminated, concentrated in low-income and minority neighborhoods. Boost Mobile already had a store on nearly every block in those same neighborhoods.
The Move
Boost Mobile turned its own storefronts into official polling stations, partnering with election officials, voting rights groups, and local hip-hop artists to spread the word. In Boost precincts, voter turnout rose 23% over the prior election.
Why It Worked
The fix was not a message about access. It was retail infrastructure already sitting in the right neighborhoods, repurposed as civic infrastructure — the asset existed before anyone thought to use it that way.
